Bogdan Vix & Renee Stahl - Forever
Martin Luther King Jr. - Mountaintop Speech If Light And Tears With Clarity was my first successful mashup, and Bad Hazel Blood was my first popular mashup, this is the first mashup that I was proud to call my creation. I still enjoy listening to this one. This mash, despite its simplicity, took me a long time to make and the effort really paid off. By this time I had realized the destructive effects of each time a track was pitched or stretched, so all of that was kept to a minimum with this one. Basically, I created the mashup, and then I went back and re-created it with the knowledge of what needed to be done on the first edit. I would have to say that while I'm not much of a hero-worshipper, I do find the life of Martin Luther King Jr. fascinating. And he's as close to a hero-I've-never-met as I've probably ever had. This speech was the last recorded speech King ever gave as he was assassinated shortly after delivering this one. Listening to this in retrospect you can tell that he knew it was going to happen. The "thunderclap" sound effect was used (my first use of sound effects) to indicate that King was shot to death shortly after this speech. The song, Forever, captures the emotion of how people must have felt after hearing that he had been assassinated. "Why, why must beauty die?" |

this is the first Vangelis - Conquest of Paradise
Glee feat. Lea Michelle and Irina Menzel - I Dreamed A Dream [acapella] Martin Luther King Jr. - I Have A Dream Speech After winning the monthly Mashstix contest in January of 2016, I wasn't "supposed" to win again the following month, but since I deferred my win to Nerd42, I felt I was justified in entering since it wasn't my contest. Well, there was no concern about winning with this entry. I'm sure that the only thing that this one succeeded in doing was make people question how I could have possibly won the contest the month before. After all, I beat a lot of contestants that month. I'm definitely not very proud of this one, even though I thought the idea was a good one, and it is somewhat inspirational. My family loves this one, but only because they haven't really trained their ears to hear all the problems. This one gets tucked here in the "closet" of my website, with the other MLK mashup. You might notice that this is the first use of the name "satis5d" on the cover art. But at this point, the trademark 90-degree turn had not been introduced. |
